MAHESH RAI
With over 15 years of creative exploration across film, animation, puppetry, and digital storytelling, Mahesh is the driving force behind 38MM Media Hub. A passionate media professional and visionary founder, his journey began right after earning a Master’s degree in Mass Communication, diving headfirst into the world of storytelling through national award-winning feature films and the grand stage of the 2010 Commonwealth Games. His artistic journey took an unexpected yet iconic turn when he became a puppeteer for NDTV’s legendary show Gustakhi Maaf. From there, he brought over a hundred puppet and animated videos to life for children’s YouTube channels, celebrating Indian heritage through projects like a short video series on the traditional art of Togalu Gombeyata with master puppeteers.
With a foot firmly in both traditional and cutting-edge media, he has produced corporate films across Delhi and Mumbai, taught media and puppetry in reputed mass communication colleges and international schools, and represented Indian puppetry in Russia and Europe. His portfolio stretches from creating gaming and esports content for mega events to directing a docuseries for MTV on India’s esports rise, and executing a global poker tournament for Colors Infinity. During the COVID-19 era, he founded 38MM Media Hub, transforming years of experience into a platform for inventive storytelling. He contributed to large-scale productions including opening ceremonies for international sports events and designed the show-stopping theme pavilion at Bharat Tex 2024—a curated experience for the Prime Minister showcasing the evolution of Indian textiles.
His documentary work includes projects for the Ministry of Culture like the celebrated Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, and more recently, a compelling film for the Ministry of External Affairs in Tanzania. Beyond the screen, he’s also working on a fiction book, set to be released both online and in print.
